The Overview:

The American Independent Business Alliance (www.amiba.net) is celebrating the 7th annual Independents Week is July 1-7 but we are celebrating all month long. July is a time to honor locally-owned independent businesses and the far-reaching impact of their entrepreneurial spirit on the American way of life.

The Benefits of Independents:

Preservation of distinctive local character

Local decision-making by community residents

Keeping more dollars in the local economy

Merchandise tailored to customer interests

The Program:

Consumers can pick up passports at various locations throughout Manatee and Sarasota counties to be announced at a later date.

The passport will list the participating retailers and restaurants which will each have special offers for passport holders which are valid during the month of July.

Passport holders will visit at least eight participating businesses, two of which must be in each of the four designated areas of town. At the participating business they will have their passport stamped.

Once the passport holder has received their eight stamps they will return their passport to the designated locations, to be announced.

They will then be eligible for the grand prize of a weekend for two at Longboat Key Club.

Participating Businesses:

You do not need to be a member of either the Sarasota or Bradenton Area Convention & Visitors Bureau and there is no cost to participate, however there are certain requirements.

Eligibility:

Retailer, Restaurant or other business where a good or service may be purchased that day.

Must have an actual physical location where consumers may visit to have their passport stamped.

Must be independently-owned and operated, franchises/licensees are not eligible.

Special Offer: Participants must be willing to offer something of value to passport holders and offer must be valid the entire month of July, however limited to one use per passport holder. Offer must not be available to the general public.

No Purchase Necessary: Participants must be willing to stamp passports with no purchase necessary.

Participation Agreement: Send an e-mail to independents@castolp.com to receive an agreement form. Participation will be limited to only 100.
