Take a break from the beach and head down to Englewood each fall for the Englewood Jaycees Pioneer Days. The week-long affair celebrates and honors the original pioneers of Englewood with live music, a parade and a plethora of fun contests the entire family will enjoy.
Pioneer Days begin with the Little Miss/Mr. Pioneer Days Pageant. There is also a Fish-a-Thon at Tom Adam's Bridge.
The most popular event of Pioneer Days is the Cardboard Raft Race. Two rafts run in 100-yard heats 50 down and 50 back in youth and adult divisions until a winner emerges. The sizes of the rafts range from a surfboard to a six-person tiki boat.
