Take a break from the beach and head down to Englewood each fall for the Englewood Jaycees Pioneer Days. The weeklong affair celebrates and honors the original pioneers of Englewood with live music, a parade and a plethora of fun contests the entire family will enjoy.
Pioneer Days begins with the Little Miss/Mr. Pioneer Days Pageant. There is also a Fish-a-Thon at the Tom Adams Bridge.
The most popular event of Pioneer Days is the Cardboard Raft Race. Two rafts run in 100-yard heats 50 down and 50 back in youth and adult divisions until a winner emerges. The sizes of the rafts range from a surfboard to a six-person tiki boat.
