Once one of the most rapidly growing cities in Florida, Northport is known for one of the oldest attractions in Florida. It is said that Ponce de Leon came to Florida in 1513 searching for the Fountain of Youth. While de Leon did sail into nearby Charlotte Harbor and met natives who knew about this Fountain of Youth, he never found the original, now called Warm Mineral Springs. Northport’s Warm Mineral Springs, with 9 million gallons of fresh water at a constant temperature of 87 degrees Fahrenheit attracts visitors from all over the world. With the third highest mineral content of any spring in the world, people seek the healing properties of Warm Mineral Springs and travel thousands of miles to float in it. Now with a newly revitalized spa adjacent to the Spring, visitors can dine at an organic cafe and treat themselves to a massage or healing spa treatment in between dips in the water.
