The hot trend in travel is for resorts to cater to pets as well as their owners, and Sarasota overlooks no "de-tail" while leading the pack. Most units, ranging from studios to two-bedrooms, are bayfront; all have private outdoor hot tubs and complimentary bathrobes.
Pets are permitted on the resort's kayaks, canoes and paddleboats; guests also have access to fishing poles, bicycles and more. With Turtle Beach across the street and Siesta Village nearby, there's plenty to do. Walk next door to Ophelia's for a gourmet meal, but leave the pooches behind. If they tend to be vocal when left alone, take them along instead to a more casual spot. Several local restaurants will accommodate. Afterwards, stroll the delightfully quirky Village, where parched pets can drink fresh water from bowls placed out by thoughtful shopkeepers.

When you're in the mood for putting on the dog, The Ritz-Carlton is the cat's meow. Here pets enjoy the same gracious service and hospitality that have made the company famous among humans.
Dogs and cats up to 20 pounds are invited to be in the lap of luxury at this elegant hotel and resort, beginning with a special welcome amenity upon check-in. Gourmet treats and water bowls start their stay off on the right foot (or paw).
If you take them out on the town, be sure to carry them through the lobby. Once outside, they may visit the designated dog-walking area on-property, peruse the art galleries in downtown Sarasota, or hop on a shuttle with you to St. Armand's Circle, where you'll no doubt encounter other privileged pets enjoying the European-flavored enclave.
